Summersalt
Summersalt's Sustainability Rating:

Poor

Summersalt's Poor rating is due to a lack of published sustainability information. It’s a smaller brand, which means it likely has fewer resources for robust sustainability efforts and reporting. When Summersalt publishes more data, we’ll be able to do a more thorough review.

Summersalt uses both lower emissions materials such as recycled polyamide, TENCEL modal, Cupro, organic cotton, as well as high emissions materials including lycra, conventional cotton, elastane, and wool. It uses recycled plastic and paper in its packaging, but it's unclear if it's high or low recycled content.

Its sustainability information is hidden, and some of it is misleadingly worded - we hope to see Summersalt share more information on its energy use, emissions, and labor practices in the future.

  • Raw Materials

Commons couldn't find information on the overall proportion of materials this brand uses. For a small brand, we assume a mix of material types. Summersalt uses both lower emissions materials such as recycled polyamide, TENCEL modal, Cupro, organic cotton, as well as high emissions materials including lycra, conventional cotton, elastane, and wool. It uses materials that have certifications from GOTS, OCS, and BCI. Commons couldn't find any stated plans to increase low emissions materials and/or decrease synthetic materials.

  • Energy Use & Production

  • Packaging & Distribution

  • Repair & Care

Summersalt doesn't offer repair services or support. Summersalt doesn't offer a warranty. It gives basic care instructions that can help extend product lifespan.

  • Take Back Programs

Summersalt doesn't offer a take back program to help keep its products out of landfill.

  • Slow Fashion

Summersalt offers some products across multiple seasons but also releases new items throughout the year.

  • Marketing

Commons is still evaluating this brand's marketing emails.

  • Transparency & Reporting

Summersalt has a sustainability page with high-level details on its climate strategy, but this page is within its FAQ and hard to find on its website.

  • Emissions Tracking

Commons couldn't find information on this brand's emissions tracking. This process can be an expensive undertaking for small brands.

  • Targets & Offsets

Commons couldn't find emissions reduction targets for this brand. Commons couldn't find evidence that this brand offsets any emissions.

  • Supply Chain & Labor

Summersalt publishes information about its supply chain partners, disclosing their geographic locations across Tier 1 (final production manufacturing). It doesn't publicly share a supplier code of conduct. It provides general statements about its labor practices but Commons couldn't find concrete information.
