Mightly's Sustainability Rating:

Good

Mightly has a Good rating because it intentionally minimizes resource use and environmentally harmful materials.

Mightly uses a majority of lower emissions and/or certified materials in its products, specifically GOTS organic cotton. It takes responsibility for the full lifecycle of its products by offering a take back program for resale, including for items that are commonly landfilled. Mightly also provides transparency into its supply chain, highlighting its Fairtrade and Fairtrade USA suppliers by name and location.

While it's a small brand with likely limited resources, we hope to see Mightly share information on its energy strategy, emissions, and reduction efforts in the future.

  • Raw Materials

Mightly uses a majority of lower emissions or certified materials in its products, specifically GOTS organic cotton. However, it's unclear which of its items hold OEKO-TEX certifications. Commons couldn't find any stated plans to increase low emissions materials and/or decrease remaining synthetic materials, but Mightly's materials strategy is already very strong for a small brand.

  • Energy Use & Production

Mightly doesn't share information on its energy strategy. Mightly sources and manufactures its materials globally, which is standard practice in the textile industry.

  • Packaging & Distribution

Mightly has made efforts to minimize the amount of material used in its packaging, including by partnering with RePack in the past. It has made efforts to reduce virgin plastic in its packaging and also uses eco-friendly materials in its product containers, including ones that are FSC-certified, recyclable, and/or recycled.

  • Repair & Care

Mightly doesn't offer repair services or support. Mightly doesn't offer a warranty. It gives basic care instructions that can help extend product lifespan.

  • Take Back Programs

Mightly has a take back program called Lightly Loved that it prominently promotes to customers. This program accepts the brand's own clothes and unworn open-box underwear for resale. The latter provides a second-life option for items that are commonly landfilled. Mightly doesn't share details on the efficacy of this program.

  • Slow Fashion

Mightly offers some products across multiple seasons but also releases new items seasonally each year.

  • Marketing

Commons is still evaluating this brand's marketing emails.

  • Transparency & Reporting

Mightly has a prominent sustainability page with high-level details on its climate strategy. Like many small brands, it doesn't release an annual sustainability report.

  • Emissions Tracking

Commons couldn't find information on this brand's emissions tracking. This process can be an expensive undertaking for small brands.

  • Targets & Offsets

Commons couldn't find emissions reduction targets for this brand. Commons couldn't find evidence that this brand offsets any emissions.

  • Supply Chain & Labor

Mightly publishes detailed information about its supply chain partners, disclosing their names and locations across Tier 2-3 (materials sourcing). It doesn't publicly share a supplier code of conduct, but highlights that it works with Fairtrade and Fairtrade USA suppliers and manufacturers. Its supply chain is largely traceable through these certifications.
