Evereden

Gentle hair care for kids and teens, safe for sensitive skin

Evereden
Evereden's Sustainability Rating:

Poor

Evereden's Poor rating is due to a lack of published sustainability information. It’s a smaller brand, which means it likely has fewer resources for robust sustainability efforts and reporting. When Evereden publishes more data, we’ll be able to do a more thorough review.

Evereden commits to avoiding many ingredients, though it still uses some that pose a significant threat to the climate, including uncertified palm oil-derived ingredients, other petrochemical-based ingredients, and microplastics. However, it provides the EWG score and source of every ingredient, which helps customers make informed decisions.

It appears to use primarily plastic packaging of a virgin source, but doesn't disclose enough information. Packaging is a large portion of the industry's emissions and waste footprint, and Evereden also doesn't utilize any alternative models or packaging minimization strategies to reduce its waste and emissions footprint.

  • Ingredients

Evereden has made ingredient commitments to lower its environmental impact, including by avoiding parabens, phthalates, certain petrochemical-based ingredients, and harmful suncare ingredients. It claims to avoid 2,000 ingredients, but doesn't share the full list. While it has made commitments, it still use some ingredients that pose a significant threat to the climate, including other petrochemical-based ingredients, uncertified palm oil or palm oil-derived ingredients, and microplastics. It can be very difficult to eliminate these entirely, especially for small brands with limited resources. Its products incorporate bio-based and biodegradable ingredients. It carries products that have certifications from Made Safe, EWG Verified, National Eczema Foundation Accepted, and USDA Certified Biobased Product.

  • Containers & Packaging

Evereden hasn't made any efforts to concentrate its products or minimize its containers, which increases shipping emissions and packaging volumes. It appears to still rely on virgin plastic for its packaging, which increases its waste and emissions footprint.

  • Energy & Water Use

Evereden doesn't share information on its energy strategy. Evereden doesn't provide information on any water conservation strategies. Evereden has a global production span, which is standard for the industry.

  • Refill & Reuse

Evereden doesn't utilize any alternative models or methods to avert waste.

  • Slow Cleaning

It's unclear if this brand releases new items seasonally or otherwise frequently, which can create excess waste.

  • Marketing

Commons is still evaluating this brand's marketing emails.

  • Transparency & Reporting

Evereden doesn't appear to have a sustainability page but does discuss its ingredient commitments in its Our Philosophy page. Evereden shares a complete list of ingredients used in its products on a per product basis, providing the EWG score for each ingredient.

  • Emissions Tracking

Commons couldn't find information on this brand's emissions tracking. This process can be an expensive undertaking for small brands.

  • Targets & Offsets

Commons couldn't find emissions reduction targets for this brand. Commons couldn't find evidence that this brand offsets any emissions.

  • Supply Chain & Labor

Evereden doesn't publish information about its supply chain partners. It doesn't publicly share a supplier code of conduct. Evereden doesn't have a stated policy of regularly auditing its supply chain partners. This may increase human and environmental risks. Commons couldn't find further information about this brand's supply chain and labor practices.

  • Advocacy

Commons wasn't able to find evidence of any trade association memberships or any relevant policy for this brand. Evereden isn't a member of any key advocacy organizations that are blocking climate policy. It isn't a member of advocacy organizations advancing climate policy. It doesn't employ any state lobbyists. Evereden didn't donate more than $100k to climate-obstructive candidates or PACs from 2018-2024.
