Kyte Baby's Sustainability Rating:

Poor

Kyte Baby's Poor rating is due to a lack of published sustainability information. It’s a smaller brand, which means it likely has fewer resources for robust sustainability efforts and reporting. When Kyte Baby publishes more data, we’ll be able to do a more thorough review.

Kyte Baby uses a majority of OEKO-TEX rayon from bamboo along with some lower and higher emissions materials like flax linen and spandex, respectively. Bamboo can be sourced responsibly with lower emissions and ecotoxicity, but Kyte Baby doesn't share any information on its sourcing strategy, so we assume it's sourced via harmful conventional methods. However, it helps lower its product waste by running a resale group and donating production scraps to local organizations.

Kyte Baby shares that it uses recyclable and biodegradable packaging materials, but it doesn't identify what these are. We assume most smaller brands are using a mix of virgin petro-plastic and uncertified cardboard.

  • Raw Materials

Kyte Baby uses a majority of OEKO-TEX rayon from bamboo along with some lower and higher emissions materials like flax linen and spandex, respectively. Bamboo can be sourced responsibly with lower emissions and ecotoxicity, but Kyte Baby doesn't share any information on its sourcing strategy, so we assume it's sourced via harmful conventional methods. Commons couldn't find any stated plans to increase low emissions materials and/or decrease synthetic materials.

  • Energy Use & Production

Kyte Baby doesn't share information on its energy strategy. Kyte Baby sources and manufactures its materials globally, which is standard practice in the textile industry.

  • Packaging & Distribution

Kyte Baby doesn't share much about its packaging beyond noting that it uses both recyclable and biodegradable materials. It's unclear what proportion of these materials are virgin petro-based plastic.

  • Repair & Care

Kyte Baby doesn't offer repair services or support. Kyte Baby doesn't offer a warranty. It gives detailed and environmentally conscious care instructions for its products.

  • Take Back Programs

Kyte Baby runs a takeback resale program through its official Buy, Sell, Trade group on Facebook. This program accepts the brand's own clothes for resale. Kyte Baby shares details on how successful this program is at diverting items from landfills.

  • Slow Fashion

Kyte Baby offers some products across multiple seasons but also releases new items seasonally each year. It limits overproduction and waste by donating waste/deadstock to be upcycled by local organizations.

  • Marketing

Commons is still evaluating this brand's marketing emails.

  • Transparency & Reporting

Kyte Baby has a sustainability page with high-level details on its climate strategy, but this page is hard to find on its website.

  • Emissions Tracking

Commons couldn't find information on this brand's emissions tracking. This process can be an expensive undertaking for small brands.

  • Targets & Offsets

Commons couldn't find emissions reduction targets for this brand. Commons couldn't find evidence that this brand offsets any emissions.

  • Supply Chain & Labor

Kyte Baby doesn't publish information about its supply chain partners. It doesn't publicly share a supplier code of conduct. Commons couldn't find further information about this brand's supply chain and labor practices. We assume smaller brands operate according to industry standards.
